A Vintage Automotive Icon

Dec 14, 2021

The vintage Land Rover Defender is an automotive icon.

Although, classic versions of the British 4X4, which ceased production in 2016, meet the standards of today’s drivers, unfortunately, unless the vehicle is adorned with a Chelsea Truck Company body kit, its decades-old specs aren’t always up to task.

Luckily, Afzal Kahn has a solution to that problem, combining the old with the relatively new, churning out a special edition of the Land Rover Defender, with the latest adopting a bright yellow paint job and a very distinctive silhouette, adding an old-school feel to this special vehicle.

Re-worked and adorned with numerous aesthetic, mechanical and engineering upgrades, coupled with the usual exceptional standards of craftsmanship and renowned styling, one would expect from The Chelsea Truck Company, we are talking about a one of a kind model, which makes a definite and lasting statement.

It’s called the Homage II Edition, and unlike most Defenders, this special model was created to evoke the front-end styling of the older Series 2 version, which stood out via their headlights being mounted on the front grille.

Therefore, Mr. Kahn and his team redesigned the lighting setup which consists of indicators, headlights and driving lights which have been aligned strategically to ensure the front end of the vehicle which also includes a redesigned front grille resembles the iconic series 2 Defender.

The rest of the body is also modified, featuring an 8-inch (203 mm) longer wheelbase, mainly thanks to the addition of an extra 7.9 inches (200 mm) of bodywork just ahead of the windscreen, as well as the company’s wide body kit and an exterior roll cage finished in black.

The interior is clad in leather from the seats to the roof headlining, custom centre console, dashboard, grab handles, door panels, instrument binnacle, headliner, and sun visors.

“The Defender is probably the most iconic and well-loved British vehicles in existence,” commented Afzal Kahn, CEO and creative director of the Kahn Group.

“With the series Homage II edition, I set out to create something fashionable, iconic and revolutionary which carries on the spirit of the Defender.

“Everything on this car, from the mechanical and engineering upgrades to the custom stitched leather, has been created at our state-of-the-art laboratory.”

“These days it’s not what you wear, it’s what you drive, and I believe discerning fans and clients will instantly recognise this vehicle as a real tribute to the legend that is the Defender Homage II model.”

The Homage II edition conveys excellence, featuring a new front grille which sits proudly at the front of the vehicle, along with a re-designed lighting set up which consists of indicators, headlights and driving light which have been aligned strategically to ensure the front end of the vehicle resembles the iconic series 2 Defender.
